Chitrannamu ( Color rice or Lemon rice)



Chitrannamu also called as color rice or lemon rice is frequently prepared dish in South India. It can be taken as tiffin or in lunch. In can be served with some vegetable curry or with Ground nut powder.

Ingredients:

Rice – ¼ kg
Ground nuts – 1 small cup

Cumin and mustard seeds – 1 pinch

Coriander leaves – few
Salt – 1 teaspoon

Water – 2 large bowels
Undried coconut – medium size piece

Lemon fruits– 3

Curry leaves – few

Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon

Green chilies – 3 to4

Oil – 4 to 5 tea spoons
 Procedure :

Take rice clean and boil with little bit excess water so that boiled rice will be less sticky . Now cut green chilies into small pieces. Take undried kernel of coconut and grate it. Now add green chili pieces, grated substance of coconut, salt and coriander leaves into mixer grinder and grind well.

Take that mixture out and keep aside. Fry the ground nuts and keep aside. Take juice from the lemon fruits and keep in one bowl.
 
Take one frying pan  and add 4 to 5 spoons of oil. After oil becomes hot add cumin and mustard seeds then curry leaves.Now after frying them add fried ground nuts, mixture of green chilies and grated substance of coconut and fry them.

Then add lemon juice mix till it the watery mixture becomes semisolid.

Now add this mixture into boiled rice and mix well as shown in video.

 Now chitrannamu is ready.
